The arrival of La Passerelle was due to the work of a group of committed women wanting to make a positive difference in society. They noticed there was a demand for many
women in the region of Vaudreuil-Soulanges needing to find a safe place because they and their children were in danger from their spouse or even ex-spouse. They therefore decided to establish a shelter similar to many others in the province.
Since June 17th, 1996, La Passerelle has offered different services in the aim of raising awareness and preventing domestic violence against women and children. The shelter services the 23 municipalities of Vaudreuil-Soulanges. It has serviced women and children from other towns and even other provinces. The shelter has established several services to answer to the increasing demand. The services can be divided into five categories.
